Well I'm in the east coast this week and had a chance at shake shack. It was very good, but I'm not sure if it's worth the hype.  The burgers were similar to In-N-Out; the bun, which was a soft brioche type bun, was better, and the fries, which were cut with a bit of a cringle, gave you a better surface area to volune ratio.  Still, it hardly blew me away, so I'm not sure its outsized reputation was deserved. The salted caramel milkshake was quite good, though.
