I got SO sick of being plucky, little Stanford. Got even sicker of being bumbling, incompetent Stanford.  Although I liked the idea of sneaking up on opponents, I like the idea of bludgeoning them into insensibility better.
Duke could pull off an upset. If we play like we played against Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, it could happen. David Cutcliffe is the archetype coach for overmatched teams. He tries to do it with an innovative offense to make up for the dearth of talent on defense. (His predecessor, Ted Roof, was a defensive oriented coach who put together a 4-44 record...so Cutcliffe, the offensive mind behind some of Tennessee's great teams probably has the right approach.) Got them a 5-win season in 2009. Duke's QB is Sean Renfree who Stanford also recruited. Guess he made the right choice of schools considering he would have been trying to beat out Andrew Luck.
So, if Duke gets in a groove and Stanford comes out flat or affected by the heat/humidity, Duke could be a killer. If, the Stanford of 2010 shows up, the Giant Killers are in for a long day.
