Yes, please!
He's a former 4-star recruit (2nd C in the country and 119th overall recruit per 247's composite rankings from that year; 11th DE in the country and 127th overall recruit per Rivals from that year). That he was a top recruit at both C and DE is nice evidence of his football IQ and athleticism.Â
Fingers crossed for his admission, but the fact that he graduated in 3 years from UT and was on the All-Big 12 academic team the last two years is a nice point in his favor. (The Big 12 All-Academic team doesn't list GPAs, though, so we're in the dark on that number--we just know that it was above a 3.2 because he was on the first team both this year and last.) Per the UT website (http://www.texassports.com/news/2015/4/2...54051.aspx), he was the male recipient of the "Academic Excellence & Spirit Award (given to student-athlete who stands out as achieving at very highest levels athletically and academically)," suggesting that his GPA was appreciably better than 3.2.Â
Looks like he already has a grad school offer from, you guessed it, Michigan. But you'd have to think that if he can get in, playing another couple of years at Stanford would be a pretty attractive option for a lineman who cares about academics and is also probably looking toward the NFL.Â
