This is the one thing that's amazed me in all this Texas A&M speculation. The Texas state legislature has twice intervened in a major way in the Big-12. First, when they arm-twisted the other Texas schools to take Baylor. Second, during the great Pac-16 attempted coup, the Texas legislators did some major behind-the-scenes maneuvering to keep things from falling apart.
Now it looks like they're wading in again.  Too bad. Texas A&M to the SEC is a good move. Most likely they would retain their traditional game with UT but get out from under the UT thumb on the confence. Probably a better payout, too, from the SEC over the long run. A&M playing LSU, Arkansas, the two Mississippi schools and the Alabama schools would be a decent fit.
But, I'm betting on the politicians.
