No one is waiting on Texas. They are happy to get the lion's share of the money the way things are now.
Texas A & M wants out of the Big 12-2, and they are not alone. The SEC may want aTm, but the last minute TV contract that the Big 12 members signed last year prevents the SEC from initiating action as long as aTm is in the Big 12. Same goes for all of the other schools that want to break ties with Texas. Any school that wants to leave must first go independent, pay a higher exit fee to the big 12 than CU and NU paid, then deal with the consequences of breaking the TV contract. ESPN also has a stake in this, in that they are partners with Texas in the Longhorn Network. The Texas State legislators are another force that don't want aTm to leave. They cannot prevent aTm from going to the SEC, but they control the State's educational funding.
I find this all very interesting. And, I am no longer worried about some of these schools spreading this cancer to the Pac 12. The dominoes are not going to start falling anytime soon.
