Reports are that Friday the NCAA will announce the sanctions against the USC Trojans for violations in both their football and basketball programs. USC might jump the gun and announce it themselves.
The speculation list includes forfeits of previous victories, loss of scholarships and possibly a bowl game ban (not holding my breath on that one.)
These stem from the Reggie Bush/ Tim Mayo era of football/basketball. We\'ll know the penalties soon enough, but what I really want to know is: How much of this factored in the departure of Pete Carroll for the Seattle Seahawks (easy) and how much did this figure in the negotiations to hire Lane Kiffin to replace him? Maybe there was a reason why they had to pay a coach with a minimal-and-even-that-was-mediocre college record more than $4 million per year to take the job.
I dunno about the forfeits. The idea that Buddy and Wlat might end up with better season records just blows my mind.
