1) This summary makes it sound like I'm actually right, that in Sanders's circumstances we can't place limits on him, we other object (which no one does) or we don't. The other rule seems clearly irrelevant here (since we'd renew Sanders's scholarship).

The "we object" part is where the limits arise. Apparently some schools object if the switch is to a team on their schedule or in conference.

I think the non-renewal of scholarship is entirely irrelevant in most every case.
