If the all-bowl (etc.) team didn't have a slot for all-purpose, does anyone here think McCaffrey wouldn't or shouldn't have been named at running back?
I don't have strong feelings about this, but if there wasn't an all-purpose slot, I think it would've been reasonable to have McCaffrey named at RB and also think it would've been reasonable not to name him. The two named RBs had outstanding games, so at best it's a good argument that any two of the three should've been named.
Johnny Jefferson, 299 rushing yards on 23 carries for a 13.0 average and 3 rushing TDs - he didn't have any receptions, so his total yards from scrimmage and TDs are the same as his rushing statistics.
Leonard Fournette, 212 rushing yards on 29 carries for a 7.3 average and 4 rushing TDs, plus 1 reception for 44 yards and 1 TD, for a total of 256 yards from scrimmage and 5 TDs.
Christian had 172 rushing yards on 18 carries for a 9.6 average and 0 TDs, plus 4 receptions for 105 yards and 1 TD, for a total of 277 yards from scrimmage and 1 TD. (I think it's fair and reasonable not to include Christian's punt and kick return stats, since it would seem odd to say that a RB should return punts and kicks - obviously for all-purpose honors punt and kick returns should be included.)
In summary, he had 22 fewer yards and 2 less TDs from scrimmage than Jefferson, and 21 more yards and 4 fewer TDs from scrimmage than Fournette. I love having Christian on our team and am a great fan of his...
