Putting aside the quality of the writing, I think it is somewhat motivated by the question of whether or not the series should be maintained. I think the blogger would keep ND playing Stanford as long as they can start winning most of the games. If the games remain competitive or Stanford starts dominating, he would want to drop the game so that we would stop eroding their proper place atop college football. His attitude is the reason I have assumed that ND would be dropping the series if we were able to establish ourselves as a legitimate well-established football power. They don't really care about their strength of schedule because they already have a preferred seat at the table of whatever championship structure exists. They know they just need wins and if Stanford doesn't regularly offer those wins, I think they will find a way out of the series. I like playing them because it always gets a great deal of coverage and we get extra credit when we win. I'm surprised they haven't found a way out yet and will have to revisit my view if we stay good and they stick with the series.Â
