Fournette went against Texas Tech: #126 in total defense, gave up 6.9 yards per play on the year and 74 TDs
Jefferson went against Baylor: #62 in total defense, gave up 5.2 yards per play and 47 TDs
McCaffrey went up against Iowa: #22 in total defense, gave up 5.0 yards per play and 28 TDs
Is it a wonder that Fournette especially had a of exceedingly large proportions game?
Again, it's just a silly bowl game list from ESPN. In my opinion, the "All Purpose" designation typically does not get the same respect as RB. My primary concern is that these lists, to some people, position McCaffrey as a "gimmick", not to be valued on the same level as a traditional running back. I hope that I'm wrong.
In my real life, I typically talk college football with people who are not Stanford fans, and in fact are fans/alums of schools that put them at odds with Stanford: Oregon, C.al, and U.SC typically. Every one of them heaps nothing but praise on McCaffrey, while simultaneously telling me how much they despise everything Stanford football represents. While they are likely not entirely unbiased (being fans of Pac-12 teams and living within the Pac-12's footprint), I still think it's a good indication of the respect McCaffrey gets beyond the confines of our own fan base.
