So do they only have body clock problems during the playoffs for some reason?  Maybe during the early fall when there's more light they don't have an issue?

Playoff games guarantee you're playing a pretty good team, that's the only reason I could see restricting it to that. You could also do "games against teams that made the playoffs" or "games against teams with positive DVOA/winning percentage" or what have you.
