Yes; Business School is as much about contacts and networking as it is about lectures and someone without work experience doesn't bring as much to the table as someone who has been out there in the real world.  That being said, he could have gotten a Masters in Management Science and Engineering from the School of Engineering if he wanted to develop some skills useful in business.  I think that's ehat Scarlett did.

My understanding is that this wasn't an option for him because by the time Stanford entered into the picture, the deadline for the MS&E program had already passed. I believe the only master's program that would've been a realistic option for him at the time of his decision was Statistics.
