If you have a better set of data than the widely cited DW-NOMINATE figures I linked to, I'd like to see it. At least in terms of Congress, I've never seen any data suggesting that the Democrats have moved as far left as the Republicans have moved far right. There is no equivalent of the extreme right-wing Tea Party movement in the democratic party. (Yes, there is Bernie, but he's just one candidate. The two leading Republican candidates are as far right as Bernie is to the left, and Rubio isn't far behind.)
