Look at the last  10 years or so the MLB draft.  Fewer HS kids in the top 5 or so rounds.  The MLB teams rather draft college kids.  It's a reversal of years ago when the top players went pro out of HS and Stanford kept the players they signed.  Now Stanford has to compete against these outstanding players. 
Just one reason of course.  But not a small one.

Example would be Hooper's brother would have been a first rounder now at ucla.
