For how long will Stanford allow this saga to go on? The standard application deadline was January 3, which I can imagine might be waived on occasion for athletes and maybe even non-athletes. But the normal student reply date for admitted undergrads is May 1. I wonder how often that is waived for athletes who are weighing their options or waiting to be admitted?

I'm not claiming any knowledge re: the Demetris Robertson situation, I'm just curious as to what the limits are.

Well, if you remember the Erik Lorig case, Erik didn't decide to attend Stanford until a few days before fall practice started. He of course was admitted before then, but I'm not sure how they worked all that out with the admissions department and the reply date.
So I would have to say that if it is a player Stanford really wants, they are willing to be pretty flexible,
