It sure seems to me that Stanford admissions would have to be giving Robertson some pretty preferential treatment right now, for Stanford to still be an option for him.  The school would have to have reserved a spot in the class for him because if he was waitlisted there is no guarantee there would be an open spot for him - or anyone else - due to first round admits declining to enroll.  Would Stanford allow one more in the class than it was planning, if Robertson should achieve the requisite SAT score from the March 5 test?  That seems unlikely.

We don't know that Stanford is really an option for him; just because he keeps mentioning it (and he has been quiet of late) doesn't mean that it is.  Some people who are in the know seem to think it is all over.

Stanford has occasionally taken more students than its target, which has happened in the past when the yield was unexpectedly high.
