The usual 59er mental gymnastics around this is that STANFORD never really wanted the player and uses admissions as a fig leaf to hide our true evil intentions.  In their pretzel logic we only reject players we've lost interest in.

In this case they would have to convince themselves that Stanford decided that for football reasons they didn't want a recruit ranked top 10 to top 25 in the nation by different services. A tough sell.

In this case I would assume they will decide that Mr. Robertson saw the light and decided for himself that the People's Paradise in the east bay was far superior to the elitist, pinko-capitalist bastion of Stanford and any statements to the contrary were mere smoke-screens to hide his true intentions.
