The relevance of his high school drug use is that 1) he lied to the probation department in his interviews with them, 2) a foundation of his defense (both legal and public relations) has been that he was victimized by a "party culture" that he was unfamiliar with and that peer pressure to drink combined with his drinking inexperience contributed to his actions on the night in question.
