Because Watson plays QB and is so good, I'd have to say he is the best player.

That's like saying that because Fuji's are apples and are so good, I'd have to say they are the best fruit.

I mean, we understand that that Voldemort is basically an award for the most-hyped-good-QB-or-RB-if-there-is-no-exceptional-QB-that-year, but "best player" is much harder to gauge.  I would argue that the year that Andrew Luck lost the Voldemort to Cam Newton, the best player in college football was Ndamukong Suh.
