I think the AD should make a list of all Olympic participants and medal winners and note those that didn't actually participate in said sport while at Stanford.

I don't think lack of participation at Stanford is a disqualifier. For example, Debi Thomas didn't compete for Stanford but she was a full time student during the time that she trained for and competed in the 1988 Olympics. If Katie Ledecky enrolls this fall but elects to compete professionally instead of collegiately I would still consider her part of Stanford's contingent at this and future Olympics. The problem remains some schools' very liberal interpretation of the numbers which seems to include anyone who attended, even if it was long after the time that they earned their Olympic medals.
