It's currently halftime of Stanford-Indiana. Nil-nil, in proper soccer lingo. Game streamed on the Big Ten Network: http://www.btn2go.com/game/stanford-at-i...n-09042016.
Indiana just lost their central defender to a 2nd yellow: "The best defender in college soccer" per announcer. So it'll be 11 v 10.
Indiana looks good -- skilled players, savvy tactics, dangerous striker. Stanford uninspired on offense. As with the Notre Dame game two nights ago, Stanford's attack, if if can be called that, almost entirely comprised of long balls from the defense. No build up, very little offensive possession. Neither aesthetic nor effective, although with ND, Stanford played 10 v. 11 for much of the 2nd half, iirc.
Hoping that with a man up, Stanford will have more room, and thereby gain confidence, and develop useful offensive play. With the rather limited number of games that are played in college soccer, it can be hard to dig out of a hole, and if Stanford goes down today against a reduced-manned Indiana, they'll have their work cut out for themselves to make NCAAs, I fear.
