They're way more expensive than fast food (last time I looked at this Five Guys was about twice as expensive as In n Out), but not that much cheaper than a sit-down place. They're better than fast food, but not by the same margin as the price, and they're typically way worse than a sit-down place. I just don't see the appeal of the Five Guys or Shake Shack or whatever when you look at the other options.
Incidentally, this is also why I don't understand arguments about whether [insert fast casual chain here] is better than In n Out. It's at least 50% more expensive, it had better be better!
I suppose a debate with the posit: "Poptarts. Greatest food ever." would probably be a non-starter then.
Man, I love junk food, particularly since my middle-age body really no longer has a use for it, so I crave it 24/7. I grew up on a diet of, for the lack of a better culinary term, white trash cuisine. Marshmallows were one of the four major food groups. The other three were Kool Aid, Wonder Bread and Jif.
So proud I taught my daughter how to make one thing and one thing only. "Refrigerator Cookies."Â Canned frosting between two graham crackers stored overnight in the, well, duh, the fridge.
Seriously. My mother used to smother garden variety white bread toast in maple syrup. "Viola! French Toast for breakfast my chillens!"
Maybe I'll make a pilgrimage to Daly City and nail Steak 'n Shake and Krispy Kreme in one sweet nostalgic trip.
Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working .I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work. Peter Gibbons
