Sanctions ended 2 years ago; the first class post-sanctions are now juniors.  USC will not be great until they stop with this obsessive idea that only USC insiders without experience qualify for the jobs as AD or as head coach.  And maybe instead of thinking of the Carroll era as USC returning to greatness, maybe it is better to think of it as the exception that has punctuated 40 years of mediocrity.  Maybe mediocrity is harsh, but they have not been elite except for that brief period under Carroll.

As for Helton, I really hope they give him a couple seasons before they fire him ignominiously at 3 am in an airport midseason.
