Thanks for posting -- this was very interesting.

One thing I don't get, though.  This says

Stanford had two fade patterns in the playbook Saturday night, but neither could be called. The first utilized Francis Owusu, who was no longer available in the game.

Why does Owusu being out mean that play can't be called?  With every playbook I've ever seen (for any sport), plays are based on positions, not individuals: if Owusu is out, then whoever takes his WR position (i.e., JJAW) would run the route Owusu would have run.  What am I missing?
