I remember 1997 very well, and this does have a bit of a feel like that year.
But, I think the defense has just faced two very good offenses and hopefully will be getting back its top two corners sometime soon.
I think Stanford will rebound this year but no one can be optimistic about the offense at this point. It's clear to me that neither Chryst nor Burns, though they may have good wheels, have Hogan's ability as a runner.
If there's one thing that hasn't been discussed as much as it should, I would say that evidently the QB run game was a very underrated part of the Stanford offense these past few years.
