The Oregon defense was bad, but he also avoided any bad mistakes. Any passes off target were short and into the ground, and not to a defender. The success of the running game probably opened up the passing game more too. Overall, though, I think the lack of a passing game against OSU in retrospect was more just to ease Chryst into the role a little more before opening him up for this game.
