I transferred in mid-year (in January of 84). I was notified by telegram (!) with only about two weeks until the quarter started. The telegram congratulated me on my admission starting with the winter quarter of 84, gave me the date orientation started, and said "details will follow shorty."

Not sure who Shorty was, but they never showed up. 🤓
