I don't think it was a letdown, I think it was just another indication that even though we are ranked #8 nationally, we are an inconsistent team. Elite teams don't go 13-20 from the free throw line, elite teams don't have their second leading scorer make two critical turnovers in the 4th quarter after the opposition turns it over themselves with two unforgivable passes that should not have been attempted, elite teams don't go cold for long stretches of the game including 0-10 from the field to start the 3rd quarter
Can you not expect our players to play perfectly all the time?!! You can wish they do, but to expect it is, IMO, a flaw in your thought processes. You make claims that simply aren't true. What would you think about this stat line?

No, I'm not trying to trick you with a stat line from one of the elite Stanford teams (men or women!)
The rest of the Cardboard: let's let him chew on this. Even if some of you do figure it out, just say you got it, but don't give any hints.
Oh heck, it's too easy to find the real stat line on Google.
So, to make it challenging rather than trivial, I'm going to change most every statistic in some way that is FAVORABLE to the team. So, while that's not their real stat line, it is close and it is better.
In return, I'll give ONE HINT ONLY:
That team missed more than 10 FG in a row.

I have not figured this puzzle out, but looking over the stat line tells me a little about the team/game.
This is a stat line from a very, very good defensive team--at least in this particular game. 7 blocks and 7 steals while committing only 9 personal fouls would normally be considered outstanding. The numbers of rebounds is meaningless overall without knowing the pace of the game, but the fact that there were 15 offensive rebounds (to go with the 7 blocks at the other end) makes me think there is at least one very tall/athletic post with very good timing. Most glaring is the extremely poor free throw shooting. The 33% three point shooting looks more or less average but the fact that 21 shots were attempted from the outside suggests the team was having at least some trouble getting the ball inside to its posts. But subtracting the three point shooting tells us that the team was 12/24 from inside the line which is actually a very good percentage--elite posts like Chiney would shoot around 50-60% when in college.
I would conclude this is a team that played very good defense, had superb post play, and was playing a team which forced it to play for long stretches in the half court offense, which slowed the pace of the game and forced a number of off balance three point shots late in the shot clock. It may even have won the game with 55 points, but more likely it lost a close one on the basis of the debacle in free throw shooting.
There you go. I am now ready to feel very foolish now that I have stuck my neck 15" into the trap!
