Phew...we escape New Mexico State 72-64.
The Aggies cooled down somewhat, though Salas continued to nail shots, we couldn't stop her.
But it was Smith, who stepped up in the second half and finished with 21 points on 9-13 shooting along with 11 rebounds and 6 blocks, that saved the day. Without her, we probably lose this game.
Karlie had 17 points on 5 three-pointers and Brit was right behind on 16 points, but I am concerned with her going 0-5 for long range. That's not her shot right now. She's more aggressive driving to the basket.
Erica had 9 points and 12 rebounds, but she was 3/10 from the field, another inconsistent shooting game from her. We need her to convert on those shots.
We can't afford to have cold shooting nights when we face a team like NM State that comes out hot. We were able to cool them off enough to get back in the game, but it won't work against better quality teams like N.D. or Texas.
