Hours are monitored very closely by the Head Coaches at Stanford I know.  In fact I learned about the SB problem from another coach.    No the parents didn't talk to the NCAA first, but maybe the Oregon Coach did, except he ceased being a parent in Feb when his daughter quit.  No where above was this problem addessed, nor will I further.
