d4cohn (Apr. 29 post): "Our pitchers seem too overly cautious with regards to challenging hitters. As a result, we end up allowing a bunch of walks, and after we have given up a few free passes, we overcompensate and put the ball over the heart of the plate, which leads to a home-run or extra-base hit."
http://www.gostanford.com/news/2017/5/6/...ampus.aspx (May 6 game summary): "Pancino did not permit a walk and primarily let her defense work, tallying only two strikeouts. Her defense did not let her down and made every play it was tasked with."
Well done, team!
Appreciate it Cred. Unfortunately, the team couldn't follow up on yesterday's big win, losing the series finale 10-2 in five innings. Carolyn had a rough outing today, giving up 5 runs and 4 hits without recording an out. Defense also struggled at the end of the game, giving up 3 unearned runs. Our junior catcher allowed a pass ball and two steals that helped lead to the final three runs and the run-rule decision. Stanford falls to 2-19 in Pac-12 play, and has still not won a Pac-12 series since 2013. Card close season at home against Oregon this Thursday-Saturday.
