I'm not sure men's rugby is the best analogy for what happens in women's water polo.Â There are 32 NCAA D1 water polo programs.Â Is WWP one of the sports with a championship open to all NCAA divisions?Â If so, we can also count the 28 programs in divisions 2&3.Â Men's rugby, on the other hand, has just two varsity programs among schools that play NCAA D1 sports, UCB and West Point.Â Even if you expand the pool to include rugby programs at schools that play NCAA D2, D3, NAIA and USCAA you still only get 16 rugby programs.
