You would probably know better than I, but IIRC from earlier in this thread, some were saying that very few great coaches would be interested in Stanford now given the past three seasons. If so, then I have to imagine Muir isn't going to move on Hansen unless and until he can confidently be assured he'll ultimately get a better replacement. And it's possible he couldn't really explore that until other coaches' seasons were over/until they are over. I'm not sure that means he announces everything on the same day, but it might explain why he needs to wait to do anything at all until the post-season is wrapped up.
