I believe Earl and Bernard have coaches in mind. Just like the positions for men's tennis, track & field were filled quickly.Â
However I'll say again if nothing by 5 pm tomorrow it's the same as it ever was.Â
For the record I'm a of exceedingly large proportions Stanford softball fan who goes to games. Just in a three year funk
To echo Bob's point, what makes this so thoroughly unacceptable to both the players and the fans is how coveted Pac-12 jobs are in the softball community. Once again, all 8 other Pac-12 teams other than Stanford made the tournament, even teams with no where near the resources that Stanford has (Oregon St. etc.). As such, a coaching staff with even basic competence just has to schedule a reasonable OOC schedule, win a decent portion of those games, and not get skunked in Pac-12 play (i.e. ×ÉÉ's resume this year, which they even turned into a No.2 seed in their regional). This program has the resources, history and extremely talented (both athletically and academically) student-athletes to contend. A 2-22 Pac-12 record, with 5 healthy pitchers, the three exceptional seniors that we had this year, and the talented freshman class, falls squarely on the coaching staff.

It will be interesting to see how much appeal the job has this year. No one wanted it several years ago. Might be different this time, but Bernard Muir is still here.
