If they checked the weather forecast, maybe they would have stayed with the steady hand.  I imagine someone with high variability would be thrown askew by the conditions.

It's 43.5 degF, raining lightly/misting, and lightly breezy (gusts up to 5mph).  I imagine the wind speed may increase over the afternoon.  Cold and wet...tough conditions.

The last part of the storm looks to be pushing through the area right now.  There were two groups of afternoon teams.  Both afternoon groups are probably going to benefit from better weather later in the day.  (Soft greens, less rain, etc.) A team from the second of the two afternoon groups will likely post the best result for the day as the majority of their play will happen in better conditions.

Many of the morning teams are likely never going to recover from the morning challenges.  Luck of the draw I guess.
