Even better that Northwestern, a strong academic school that has never won, wins!  (unfortunately ASU is ahead)

Hmmm, I used to want strong academic schools to win.  Now, in most cases I want Stanford to have first pick at those likely to qualify for Stanford. 

I think most players prefer to know they lost to the eventual champion.  Though in this case that might be particularly painful as a decisive ASU win will show how close Stanford was to capturing this title.
