Yeah, though you run into a bias/variance tradeoff problem.  The more you sub-set the data, the higher the likelihood that your small numbers are going to result in incomplete conclusions.  I mean, a catch rate on deep routes of 100% might sound impressive, but it is less so if the player only got two deep targets.
