Shhav's point is that since 2007, Stanford's coaches always have deployed a nickel when an opponent shows a three wide receiver set, and no reporter has questioned the wisdom of that until this week.

His further point, by implication, is that a two DL set can work if everyone does their jobs.  It's not inherently weak against a run. 

And while he neither said nor implied this, my guess is that Shaw saw on film that our three DL sets weren't stopping SC's running game, either.
