It always feels odd to watch these after a loss. I think there were maybe three really good defensive plays (the sack, and two interceptions), and then a couple of other defensive plays that in any other game would have been nondescript.
I did forget in the misery that we really did have some nice offensive plays. On Love's 75 yard run, I don't think I've ever seen a hole that big watching college football. It was yuge! The play fake for a touchdown fooled even the announcer. And the touchdown pass to JJAW was not just a a really nice catch by Arcega-Whiteside (who had another couple highlights in the game), it was the rare play where we rolled out the quarterback (a fake toss one way where Chryst went the other way). The irony is that the play really didn't fool anyone; #42 Uchenna Nwosu (who had a monster game) stayed with Chryst who was mobile enough outside the pocket to not let it bother him, and the USC DB was just beaten 1 on 1 by JJAW to the point where he had to pass interfere (and JJAW still made the catch). This was a case where a trick play worked because our guys beat their guys one on one, and not because we fooled them with the trickery.
