Shaw said as much himself. I am not a great fan of the "jump ball", as the DB can often get a hand in there and pop the ball up. It requires a throw that is just too high for the DB and not too high for JJAW. Easy to have a slight error there, but if that is all you have, I guess you have to give it a shot. Still, lots of things can go wrong. Better if you are just open :)
