Yes, it was bad business.  There is a 9' drop from the stands down to the stadium and a lot of people misjudged it.  My understanding is that one of the students who was critically injured broke his neck.  Apparently, he got to the ledge, stopped and the crowd was surging forward and pushed him over.  It wasn't anything done in malice, but just a bad accident.  Truly is a shame.

Wrong. He jumped onto some tarp (over the tunnel where the team comes out), attempting to slide down to the field, but the tarp wasn't made for a man's weight. Fell something like ten to twenty feet. 

Most of the injuries were rolled ankles and things like that.
