I wonder if Perez is better suited to play strong safety. We've had plenty of good strong safeties in the past who were (it seems) slower than Perez but who positioned themselves well, tackled well, and were big hitters. Maybe Perez would be better suited there. (Though I realize we have a bevy of safeties.)

Or the so-called big nickel, which I believe first came about when Hemschoot alternated there with Amanam at Utah in '13.
