Higuchi keeps going in the consolation draw, beating Rice's Michaela Haet yesterday in an up-and-down three-setter, 0-6, 6-4, 6-3. Up next today is LSU's Ryann Foster, who is in the consolation draw in the first place thanks to losing to Arbuthnott in the first round. If Emma wins, a likely matchup with No. 33 Anna Sanford of Ohio State awaits in the qualifying consolation semifinal. (Like I said, no easy matches in the tournament. Yes, it's a consolation draw, and yes, it's a qualifying consolation draw, but you still have to play Top 50 players to advance.)
