We had dinner gathering last night comprised of Stanford, SC, and UCLA grads (mostly). All of us were rooting for Cal even though it was against interest to do so.
WSU looked as if they prepped thinking an easy W was in order.
But the C.al staff had the team ready to play. All credit to DaBares. And really, it took watching about 1/2 of 1 game to realize that Cal had made a good hire. The same realization kicked in in Game 1 of Harbaugh regime (a loss to UCLA, IIRC). You could just tell that the players were well prepped, even if they were outgunned talent-wise.
Cal is going to be a problem, starting this year. I just hope that when they do win a Big Game (and it will happen sooner rather than later), that they do not go on one of those 7 years swings we've seen of late in the series. Those kinds of dominance are bad for rivalries, imho.
