This is one of the weirdest sequences I can ever recall. Like you wonder, what level of evidence is sufficient to convince you that that the corner is too far in the distance to ever be turned?

I'm not a brobdingnagian fan of QBR, but let's use it for convenience's sake. Chryst has had an entire game with a 10.5 QBR this season. He had a 13.4 against Arizona last year. This will surely be his third. That means in just over a season he has had three sub 15 QBR performances -- when 50 is, like, a passable, OK QB.

In a full game, Josh Nunes never had a sub-35 performance. So Chryst has had three full games worse than Nunes's all-time bad. And yet no substitution! At a certain point you have to see, right?

And Costello has, even by Shaw's own admission, played well. Why isn't he switching? Why isn't there a coach he respects enough to tell him, "Look, David, you're a great coach but you're being a moron. Snap out of it." It's incomprehensible.
