Whether the 4th down pass was lucky or not is a matter of semantics. Shaw and Chryst wanted a particular outcome on that call, and it was beautifully executed -- so beautifully executed that even though there was a minuscule window for success given the perfect coverage, Chryst and Smith were able to execute and get the pass completed. However, since the same call had failed every time before in that game due to terrible Chryst execution (see the earlier pass to Colby Parkinson that was wide open but completely botched by Chryst), you have to say it was lucky to make the call and expect it would happen this time.
