To be perfectly honest, I rarely give it a thought, and when I do, I chuckle a bit envisioning my fellow Cardboardians being "driven" to click a down arrow, or whatever it is.  To each his/her own.

And Outsider Fan - I never viewed you as anything other than part of the Stanford family.  Your fandom is greatly appreciated.  I'd give you an "up arrow" (or whatever the thingymajiggy is), but well . . .  you know . . .
