But a close second is the big home field advantage that WSU has historically. Third, WSU is probably the third best team in the PAC after SC and Wash.
Right, because Falk being pulled for a QB who wound up throwing 4 interceptions is a great confidence builder. Like Stanford, WSU "took a big step backwards last week", so whichever team can correct its problem (as difficult as that might be) will be best positioned to win. The fact that the game is at WSU would favor WSU (6-0 at home, but only 1-2 on the road), while Stanford is (3-0 at home, but only 3-2 [and functionally equivalent to 2-3 based on how we played] on the road).
WSU has at times looked like the best team in the conference, for example, when they beat USC about a month ago. It also has a nice win at Oregon (33-10) and against Colorado (28-0) and Boise State (47-44). At other times, it has looked atrocious. Their 37-3 loss at Cal was a stinking pile of garbage where Falk seemed to either be sacked or throw an interception on virtually every dropback. And their loss to Arizona last week showed some nice flashes (like when Hilinski first took over), but other periods where they looked like crap.
