4th quarter.
Dodson is in for Johnson. Sniezek misses a trey and Smith puts it back. Finally Belmont gets a basket after being shut out for more than 9:55--almost an entire quarter. Sniezek makes another 3 in response. Kaylee Johnson seems to be heating up with 8 points and 6 rebounds so far. 69-48 with 5 minutes left in the game.
So far this is the Alanna Smith show, with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Sniezek has 7 assists and 1 turnover, and 8 points! Pretty even scoring around the team with many players in the high single digits.Â
Another Smith put back. Now we are killing clock. A remarkable turnaround in the second half on defense. All the reserves in to the game. Brewer nails a three!Â
Stanford wins 74 Belmont 53.
This sets us up against Ohio State for 8pm tomorrow. The game will overlap with the end of the football game, I think, sadly.Â
We shall see if we have improved any since losing to Ohio State the first time. Playing them without McPhee will be tough. Although playing with a healthy Carrington we may be more competitive than when we played them last with an unhealthy McPhee. This will be on a neutral court and our players have greater motivation than their players--so hopefully that will count for something.
