Quote:i remember the news stories written/filmed regarding his personal outreach toward inner-city youths...that does earn him some of my respect, although we do know that a lot of shady NCAA rules violations occurred under his watch.
He was a great game day coach. Â He had a great practice atmosphere. Â Some rules were broken along the way. Â That is all in the past. Â 5-star recruits should not assume that Kiffin=Carroll or that USC 2005 = USC 2015.
My guess is that without the probation the Kiffin USC era still would not be as fun for the players. Â Even with the same talent level I would guess the team could experience another loss or two per year.
Now, the NCAA has complicated the comparison equation. Â USC seems destined to change. Â Practices will not be as fun. Â The pre-NFL environment with the celebs and pro athletes cheering at practice will go away. Â Winning on Saturdays will not be so easy. Â Those old Coliseum seats and facilities will look a touch older to the player parents, etc.
The good news for Kiffin is that he will be able to blame the NCAA mess for any 6-6 type season that may develop.
